Laxton's Foremost pear

Laxton's Foremost (Pyrus communis Laxton's Foremost) is a cultivar pear which was raised at the Laxton Brothers Nursery near Bedford in 1939 by crossing the varieties Marecahl de la Cour and Fertility.

The fruit is large and yellow but can have a reddish flush and a few red stripes. It is harvested in mid to late September. The flesh is buttery and sweet.
